Lewis Silkin's 2014 charity challenge: Tough Mudder
26 September 2014
For Lewis Silkin's 2014 charity challenge a 25 strong team will be taking part in the London South Tough Mudder event in support of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Every year Lewis Silkin completes a challenge in order to raise money for the firm voted charity, and this year is no different.
This year though the challenge will be in support of two charities. The Matt Hampson Foundation, and, in memory of our dear colleague James Levy, the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. We are accepting donations for these great charities on our Just Giving page.
The challenge
But what will the Lewis Silkin team actually be doing?
On the 25 October, the 26 strong team will take part in the London South Tough Mudder event. Tough Mudder is a 10-12 miles race, with a series of challenging obstacles throughout, designed by British Special Forces to challenge the toughest of the tough. Donate and support the brave (foolish?) runners and our charities on the Just Giving page.
The charities
Our participation in the London South Tough Mudder is in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.
Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals
The Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals charity is Lewis Silkin’s charity of the year. This was voted for by staff in memory of our dear colleague James Levy. The Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals meant a great deal to him. Those who knew James know he spent too much of his too short life at the Royal Brompton which provided him with excellent care. Here James felt secure, valued and developed fond relationships with many wonderful nurses and doctors.
Support for their future work will help provide other families and patients with similar care and support innovation in treatments.
Matt Hampson Foundation
The idea to participate in Tough Mudder was initially suggested by the Lewis Silkin Sports Group, so this year we are also supporting the Matt Hampson Foundation.
The Matt Hampson Foundation provides advice, support and relief and/or treatment to young people seriously injured through sport. Matt Hampson is a former England rugby player who has battled hard since being paralysed from the neck down in a training session to help those who have suffered similar catastrophic injuries.
Who is in the Lewis Silkin Tough Mudder team?
The participants are: Ian Jeffery, Natasha Evans, Shalina Crossley, Andrew Osborne, Dominic Farnsworth, Giles Crown, Stephen O'Flaherty, Nigel Enticknap, Rachel Ward, Tarun Tawakley and Sarah O'Brien.
