Indian nationals must now apply for visit visas directly to the HKSAR Department of Immigration
03 April 2017
Effectively immediately, Indian nationals who require visit visas must do so directly by post to the Immigration Department in Hong Kong instead of submitting applications to the nearest Chinese diplomatic or consular post.
This change in application procedure means that applications for Indian nationals may now be delayed by an additional three to four weeks, compared to the previous four-day processing time.
These changes however, will not affect Indian nationals who are successfully able to complete the online pre-arrival registration.
So far, it appears that Indian nationals are the only applicant group for whom Hong Kong has closed consular processing of visit visa applications.
