Employment
Since qualifying in 2009, I have advised and supported clients with all things employment law related. I am passionate about this work, and aim to provide pragmatic, clear advice to a business, while keeping in mind the importance of their employment to the individual.
I can set up a business for success by drafting employee and independent contractor contracts and the full suite of employment policies. I have a particular interest in “alternative” employment constructs (e.g. the gig economy) and tailoring post termination restrictive covenants to match each client’s needs.
When dealing with workforce planning, I provide strategic advice and practical assistance with the execution of the plan, be it a redundancy process, restructuring or TUPE transfer.
When things go wrong, I can support with disciplinary, capability and grievance issues, and negotiating settlement agreements. Having worked in-house, I understand the need to balance legal risk with a bespoke, effective solution. I have experience defending claims in the Employment Tribunal, including unfair dismissal and complex claims involving discrimination and whistleblowing allegations. On High Court litigation, I have defended an action relating to alleged breach of post termination restrictions (including injunctions) and applications for judicial review.
