I am part of the Lewissilkinhouse team and utilise my unique background to provide high quality employment law advice, on both domestic and international matters.
In addition to having worked as an employment lawyer in-practice and in-house, I have also been a sports journalist.
On qualification I spent 4 years at an international media company, the Discovery Channel, as an in-house employment lawyer covering EMEA and APAC. After my time at the Discovery Channel and before the draw of the legal world brought me back to private practice and then Lewissilkinhouse, I wrote for Time Inc.’s cycling titles and other endurance sport publications.
I am currently on placement at an international IT services provider where I am advising and supporting on contentious and non-contentious matters across EMEA.
Thanks to my background in both private practice and in-house I have substantial experience of advising, and working collaboratively with, HR and business stakeholders on domestic and international matters, as well as liaising with external counsel.
I regularly advise on: TUPE and ARD transfers; redundancies and reorganisations; senior employee recruitment and exits; employee relations (including disciplinaries & grievances, discrimination risks, litigation, and settlement negotiations); drafting policies and handbooks; employment status; employment aspects of company set-ups; and, group wide projects.
During my time in-practice, and on my current placement, I have advised on the employment side of data protection and GDPR, including: data audits, data subject access requests, amending employment contracts, and determining lawful processing grounds.
