Over the course of the summer the Lewis Silkin Data & Privacy team will be running, in parallel with various planned In House Data Clubs (“IHDCs”), a number of “bite-size” IHDCs on various topics.

These sessions will be at most 30 minutes in length and are designed to give data & privacy interested parties a snapshot overview of some key data & privacy issues in as short a time as possible.

Our first session will be on 7 July 2021 and aptly relates to the processing of health data on return to the office.

As the UK slowly opens up following the pandemic, many of us are expecting to return to office work (even if not on a full time basis). The return of significant numbers of people is leading employers to consider what health data is necessary for them to process to ensure a safe workplace. Can they process health data? If so, how should they be processing it? If an employee refuses to provide it, what happens then? This bite-size in-house data club will cover what employers need to do to process health data, and sets out the best practice steps to be taken.
