Managing an International Workforce: 2017 & Beyond
09 February 2017
Lewis Silkin’s market leading employment practice last week hosted its 13th annual Managing an International Workforce conference in London.
The conference attracted nearly 300 HR professionals, in house lawyers and others with international employment responsibilities representing a wide cross section of industries from FTSE 350 companies to some of the world’s fastest growing technology companies.
This year's programme of plenary sessions plus ten practical breakout sessions included our renowned ‘The world of employment law: A year in review’ update, led by Lewis Silkin Partners Sean Dempsey and Colin Leckey and colleagues Christoph Crisolli (Kliemt & Vollstadt, Germany) and Jenny Hellberg (Elmzell Advokatbyra, Sweden). This was followed by a panel session led by Lewis Silkin Chair Michael Burd on ‘Brexit means Brexit – but what does Brexit mean for you’, with Ruud van Der Wel Maersk Group’s Head of Global Labour Relations, John Dabney Employment Counsel at MTV Networks, Tish Clyde Global Employment Counsel at Nokia and Matthew Percival Head of Employment Law & Employee Relations at CBI. The day concluded with a panel discussion on ‘Women in leadership – creating change’ chaired by Lewis Silkin Partner Lucy Lewis with Peter Cheese, CEO of CIPD, Baroness Margaret McDonagh, and Andria Vidler, CEO of Centaur Media.
Lewis Silkin’s Chair, Michael Burd, commented “it has been an extraordinary year for the world, discussions on Brexit and Trump made clear our contacts and clients are still catching their breath and looking to keep abreast of new developments while continuing to address day to day HR challenges where it is not possible to ‘wait and see’”
