Lewis Silkin advises Golazo Sports Marketing on their joint venture with The Great Run
19 May 2017
Lewis Silkin, one of the UK’s leading sports practices, has advised Golazo Sports Marketing in relation to their collaboration and joint venture with The Great Run Company, founded by Olympian and world record breaker Brendan Foster.
The joint venture sees two of Europe’s largest mass participation sports businesses combine to potentially create a brand with 1.3 million participants in over 60 mass participation running events across Europe.
The partnership will begin this year and expand the already well-established “Great Run” brand across the continent. The Great Run Company will continue to run the UK and Ireland held events, while Golazo will run the rest of Europe events. The parties will also establish a joint venture to promote the brand across the rest of the world.
The Lewis Silkin advisory team was led by corporate partner Karish Andrews supported by commercial partner Simon Entwistle and corporate senior associate Gavin McNaughton.
Karish said:
“This was an unusual and fast paced transaction that combined corporate, commercial and TM expertise coupled with a deep understanding of mass participation events. This is exactly the sort of deal that highlights our Sports Business Group’s strengths. We were delighted to support Golazo, and their Belgian legal advisers MVVP, on what will hopefully be a long and fruitful relationship with The Great Run.”
