City law firm Lewis Silkin LLP has today announced the promotion of five senior associates to the partnership, effective 1 April. The additions bring the total number of partners at the firm to 63.

Joining the partnership at Lewis Silkin are Michael Anderson and Antonia Grant from the Employment, Reward and Immigration team; Nick Walker from the Media, Brands and Technology team; Karish Andrews from the Corporate team; and Mark Lim from the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. These five new partners are the first to be admitted under the firm’s revised partnership structure, also brought into effect today after an extensive consultation exercise amongst the firm’s partners.

The new structure is part of a wider initiative to ensure that the firm is best positioned to continue to attract and retain the best talent for the firm. Lewis Silkin has now removed the previous distinction between equity and fixed share partners, instead adopting a model under which all partners have a common interest in the growth and success of the firm.

Also part of this wider initiative is the creation of a new ‘Managing Associate’ role within the firm. This new role aims to harness an individual’s key skills in client management and recognise the additional contribution they make to the firm, including management of people or development of important specialisms, among other attributes. 12 Managing Associates have now been appointed, all with effect from 1 April.

Lewis Silkin has frequently been recognised as one of the UK’s top employers, and was most recently included for the sixth consecutive time in The Sunday Times’ esteemed ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ survey.  It was one of only eight law firms to feature in this year’s list.

Ian Jeffery, Managing Partner of Lewis Silkin, commented:

"We’re delighted to welcome Antonia, Michael, Nick, Karish and Mark to the partnership, and our warmest congratulations go to our 12 new Managing Associates on their promotion. Each of these individuals has demonstrated strong talent in their respective fields and a real commitment to the firm and its growth. They will have an essential role to play in the development of our specialisms and business as we move forward.

“Our move to a unified partner structure will significantly impact our ability to recruit, retain and develop our talent. We are wholeheartedly committed to providing rewarding and stimulating career opportunities for our people, and shaping our business to ensure that we are best able to meet the needs of our clients in an ever more fast-paced and competitive environment.”
