I am an Employment solicitor and Head of Client Training specialising in legal training and workplace mediation in the employment team.
My role as Head of Client Training involves training clients in all a wide range of employment law topics, highlighting developments in the law and providing some practical guidance on how to handle the day-to-day issues which arise from an HR or a manager's perspective. Our training runs both live (online or face to face when we are again able to) and through e-learning courses and all of our material is designed to be interactive, engaging and informative. We use filmed and written case studies to bring the issues to life and work closely with our clients to ensure the training delivers the message that is needed.
HR Training
I conduct HR training sessions on all aspects of employment law, including handling disciplinaries and grievance investigations, sickness absence and performance management. The training I provide is tailored to the client's particular needs and can be aimed at small groups of HR personnel or to larger audiences. I also run our popular Employment Law Academy at our London offices, providing HR professionals of different levels with an overview of the main aspects of employment law and keeping them up to date on new laws coming in.
Diversity and Inclusion Training
A key area of my work is in diversity and inclusion. I sit on the firm’s Diversity Board and Wellbeing Committee and I am the firm’s Disability Champion, acting as a point of reference for employees who have additional considerations relating to their disability. I deliver training courses to all staff, managers and HR teams on a wide range of diversity and inclusion topics, including anti-harassment and bullying, unconscious bias and disability discrimination. I also run sessions for business leaders on diversity, helping them to understand the legal framework around discrimination issues and their role as leaders in promoting positive workplace behaviour.
Workplace Mediation
I am a CEDR accredited mediator and am often asked by clients to carry out workplace mediations where disputes have arisen between employees or where the working relationship has broken down between and individual and their line manager. I also carry out training sessions on mediation skills for HR professionals and managers.
Mental Health Awareness
I am also a Mental Health First Aider and run sessions to help managers deal with issues around mental health. My training sessions are designed to encourage discussion, debate and interaction, to raise the awareness of the legal issues and the impact for employees in the workplace.
