Lewis Silkin's rockhopper service expands with external hire
24 July 2017
rockhopper, the fixed-fee HR and employment law service from Lewis Silkin, has expanded its team with the hire of Nicola Penny, an external hire to the rockhopper team.
Nicola joins the rockhopper team from a niche employment law firm in the City of London and has over 8 years’ experience advising on a broad range of employment law matters with particular experience in relation to Employment Tribunal claims.
Established in 2014, rockhopper provides fixed cost employment law support to organisations, in particular tech startups and retail and hospitality businesses. rockhopper services are provided through a team of experienced, qualified and specialist employment solicitors, who give practical and commercial advice. The lawyers work flexibly from home using technology to support them with the team having now doubled in size in the past couple of years. rockhopper has provided alternative career tracks for Lewis Silkin lawyers as their personal, geographic and family circumstances change and, due to continued growth, has now begun to look to the external market for additional talent. rockhopper was commended as ‘Standout’ in the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards 2016.
Laura Farnsworth, partner and head of rockhopper commented:
“We are delighted to have recruited Nicola to join our growing rockhopper team. Through rockhopper we have retained talented lawyers we would otherwise have lost, allowing them to continue a fulfilling legal career doing work which is both challenging and important to our firm. Additionally we can provide our clients with new and innovative services to meet their needs. We are delighted to be seen in the marketplace as a firm that is responding to the practical needs of our lawyers and taking meaningful steps to enable (primarily) women to continue their careers after having children.”
