Lewis Silkin has played a central role in the development of a high profile social networking application - Wordeo - recently launched to the public.
A video messaging app that “brings your words to life”, Wordeo - the name is a combination of “words” and “video” - enables users to turn their words into a unique video message, choose different video clips, change the soundtrack or add their own video. They can then share their messages with friends via Wordeo itself or through Facebook, Twitter or by email.
Since its launch, Wordeo has been selected as both "Editors’ Choice" and a "Best New App" and has been used by some of the most followed and influential Tweeters on the planet, including Stephen Fry.
Lewis Silkin provided extensive corporate, technology and IP advice on Wordeo’s app development, as well as providing strategic insights gained from its extensive experience of acting for technology and digital clients. A cross-practice team of Lewis Silkin’s Corporate, IP, Commercial and Technology lawyers has worked with Wordeo since its inception in 2012.
Lewis Silkin’s Corporate partner Paul Rajput, who led the cross-practice team supporting Wordeo, comments:
“It has been exciting to work with Wordeo throughout all phases of its development, and we are pleased to see the app gaining an impressive number of users. Our work for Wordeo is testament to our track record of advising the communications sector on such matters, but highlights the firm’s truly integrated approach to meeting the full range of legal and commercial needs for TMT clients. We look forward to continuing on this creative journey with the Wordeo team.”
David Bailey, Wordeo’s CEO and co-founder, comments:
“Lewis Silkin provided outstanding service to Wordeo during our growth as a team and as a product. Their advice during funding and negotiation of an exclusive multi-year agreement with Getty Images for the use of their content library has been invaluable and will contribute to our ongoing success as we continue to enrich digital communication.”
