Vietnam - New mandatory work permit system from 1 July onwards
22 June 2017
The Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has been transitioning to a new online work permits application system since April which was piloted in Dong Nai and Vung Tau City.
Under the new online system which will be implemented to reduce processing time for work permits from seven business days to five business days, company representatives well be required to complete immigration applications and upload scanned copies onto the system instead of filing manual submissions of paper applications.
From 1 July onwards this system will be mandatory in Hanoi and will be introduced nation-wide. The effective dates for other cities in Vietnam have not yet been announced though the same will be expected to follow in the coming weeks. Following the implementation of the mandatory system, companies who have yet to establish accounts with the new system are encouraged to do so as soon as possible as the manual submissions will no longer be accepted at the Hanoi Labour Department offices after the cut off-date.
