As an Associate in the Rewards & Incentives team, I specialise in designing, implementing and providing ongoing support on a wide range of share incentive schemes. I provide assistance to a broad client base, including startups seeking to grow their business and established listed companies operating global all-employee incentive plans.

Employee incentives are crucial as they boost motivation, enhance productivity, and improve job satisfaction. If a business gets their incentive schemes right, they attract and retain talent, foster loyalty and align employees' goals with the businesses' objectives.

Having myself participated in an employee share scheme, I have seen first hand how, by recognising and rewarding achievements, employee incentives help create a positive working environment and drive overall business success.

Experience

Share incentive schemes

  • Designing and implementing employee share schemes, ensuring they meet legal requirements and align with the company's strategic goals. By granting employees the right to participate in a company's equity, it can deliver substantial rewards if continued employment and corporate goals are met
  • Guiding companies on tax-advantaged schemes such as EMI, CSOPs and SAYE, ensuring they meet the criteria set by legislation for the awards to benefit from favourable tax treatment. This extends to providing advice on the set up of new schemes and carrying out 'health checks' on existing schemes
  • For non-tax advantaged schemes, assisting in helping businesses identify the most suitable type of scheme for their particular needs and navigating them through the process of putting that scheme into effect. I have experience in advising on LTIPs, RSUs and tax efficient growth shares. These types of scheme can often be set up to benefit both employees and consultants
  • Advising on the impact of employee share schemes on corporate transactions, including both share acquisitions and disposals
  • Providing ongoing support to keep schemes compliant with evolving laws, reviewing and updating documentation regularly. My expertise ensures the share schemes remain attractive and effective for the company's long-term goals

Cash incentive schemes

  • Advising on various types of cash-based incentive schemes and remuneration packages, particularly where share awards are not viable. This includes profit share and commission plans, long term bonus arrangements and phantom schemes
  • Designing and implementing cash incentive schemes in a tax efficient manner where possible

Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs)

  • Assisting companies with the establishment and ongoing operation of EBTs, whether they be located onshore or offshore
