I am a Senior Employment Lawyer in the LS In-house team with over 20 years’ experience in both private practice and in-house.

I advise across the full breadth of employment legal issues, including contentious, complex advisory and corporate transactional work. My focus is on delivering pragmatic, strategic advice in fast-paced commercial environments, whilst maintaining a collaborative, business-partnering approach.

I have extensive experience of managing the varied and complex issues which can arise in the following sectors:

  • Telephony, mobile and broadband
  • Television broadcasting:  News, Sports and Production Studios
  • Technology
  • Contact Centres
  • Engineers and retail

Key Responsibilities

  • Advice and support to HR on all employment matters including policy changes, contract clauses, holiday pay queries, complex grievances and disciplinary issues and settlement agreements
  • Leading on employment issues in change programmes (both TUPE & redundancy)
  • Advising on international HR issues
  • Conducting complex tribunal litigation (including preliminary hearing advocacy)
  • Advising on complex internal investigations, including navigating US ACP issues
  • Proactively advising on changes to the law and training HR and key stakeholders

Some examples of my work include:

  • Employment Law Lead on a year-long international project in Czechia involving the management of 150+ temporarily assigned employees  and the subsequent successful on-boarding of 100+ employees. Advising  HR on  all employment law-related contractual, policy and operational issues.
  • Planned and project managed the preparatory work required to undertake an audit of employment law
compliance in 20+ overseas locations. This involved comprehensive data gathering from many different teams such as Data Protection, Compliance and Security. Following this, I was appointed as the subject matter expert on a steering group set up to establish a comprehensive governance framework for international working.
  • Independently managed a complex High Court litigation Claim valued in excess of £250,000 involving an IPI scheme where there was the risk of further multi-party claims. Worked closely with HR Leadership to discuss strategy, legal risks and financial and reputational impacts. Supported the commercial litigation team, IPI provider, private mediator and counsel to achieve a hugely successful settlement via private mediation.
  • Provided strategic advice on complex multi-party discrimination tribunal matters at all stages of the internal process.  These cases covered a wide range of complex legal issues and tribunal procedures, such as privilege, whistleblowing, sexual harassment, discrimination, time limits, anonymity orders, strike outs, deposit orders and judicial mediation.

As Co-Chair of the  Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) Race Equality Committee (REC), DE&I initiatives are a key focus of mine. During my Chairmanship, I have led the REC to bring about positive and meaningful change within the ELA and the wider employment law profession by supporting the ELA’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
