I advise companies on all aspects of employment law with a particular focus on director and senior executive exits, restructures and redundancies, business transfers and TUPE, and other complex employee relations issues.

I also deal with contentious matters and have experience in defending a wide range of claims including unfair dismissal, discrimination, and whistleblowing.

I work with clients in a broad range of sectors, but I most often advise those in media & entertainment, sports, financial services, and advertising & marketing.

Experience

Employment

  • Supporting clients with the employment aspects of complex company restructures involving individual or collective redundancy processes
  • Advising and negotiating on behalf of companies in relation to the termination of senior executives and directors, including on equity arrangements, regulatory obligations and corporate considerations
  • Advising on TUPE in respect of both business transfers and service provision changes, as well as drafting and reviewing TUPE provisions in commercial agreements
  • Defending companies in a wide range of Employment Tribunal claims including unfair dismissal, discrimination, and whistleblowing
  • Advising on complex employee relations issues including grievances, disciplinaries, permanent health insurance / critical illness benefits and flexible working requests, including the drafting and review of documents

Media & entertainment

  • Applying industry specific practices in an employment context, including advising on the use of atypical workers
  • Understanding the ever changing media landscape and navigating the impacts of digital media and technology on the workforce
  • Ensuring competition, confidentiality and IP rights are protected in an employment context

Sports

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to sports clients and navigating complex employment issues in professional sport and sports business
  • Advising on and negotiating complex senior sporting and executive exits
  • Auditing the use of casual workers in sports businesses, advising on the risks of those arrangements and identifying potential solutions
  • Advising on the TUPE and other employment aspects of projects where a new league, event or structure is being established
