About

My work is both advisory employment and contentious, covering contracts and policies, employee relations matters, restructures and redundancies, family-friendly rights and Employment Tribunal proceedings. I have particular experience of advising on employment law aspects of complex global acquisitions and outsourcings. I also regularly co-ordinate employment law advice across multiple jurisdictions for international projects.

I am fortunate to work with clients across a variety of sectors, such as media & entertainment, technology, pharmaceutical and retail.

I am Chair of our specialist TUPE group and Co-Chair of our specialist contingent workforce group.

Experience

Employment M&A, outsourcing & TUPE

  • Providing transactional support including due diligence, advice on legal assignment, drafting / negotiating employment protections in transactional agreements and producing new service agreements
  • Ensuring compliance with collective and individual information and consultation processes - TUPE and/or redundancy
  • Devising strategy for changing terms and conditions, both in- and outside of ETO framework
  • Advising on dismissals, including timing, manner, cost / liability and settlement agreements

Contingent workforce

  • Advising on more unusual working arrangements, such as self-employed contractors (including IR35 matters), agency workers, secondees, interns, zero hours workers and apprentices
  • Running audits to determine employment and tax status misclassification risks

Media & entertainment

  • Assisting numerous clients in this sector with their national and international employment law requirements
  • Advising music body on employment issues relating to a joint venture
  • Advising broadcast media company on major restructure, including redundancy and TUPE implications
  • Defending a complex tribunal claim for sex discrimination and equal pay
