I am a litigator who has been practising in Hong Kong for more than 20 years.
I qualified in Hong Kong in 2000 and England and Wales in 2002. Since qualifying in Hong Kong, I have helped clients set up their businesses in Hong Kong. Having a dual practice of employment and IP has enabled me to offer clients a unique perspective.
I spent my university years in Nottingham where I obtained my LLB, LLM and Diploma in Legal Practice. Thereafter, I took some time out travelling across Asia and the Indian subcontinent before joining an international law firm in Hong Kong as a Trainee Solicitor.
My clients are made up of multi-national companies, high net worth individuals, SMEs and not for profit organisations.
I provide pro-bono services to charities, not for profit organisations and deserving causes and have for a number of years have received individual awards from the Law Society’s Pro Bono and Community Recognition Programme.
Employment
I assist clients with the drafting and reviewing of their employment documentation. I also handle their litigious matters, dealing with cases of employee misconduct, enforcement of restrictive covenants and theft of trade secrets, all of which require immediate attention and sensitivity.
IP
On the IP side, I help clients with their anti-counterfeiting strategies and the enforcement of their IP rights. I liaise with Customs for the recordal of IP rights and I have significant experience in obtaining prohibitive injunctions to restrain acts of infringement as well as Mareva injunctions to freeze accounts to which sale proceeds of counterfeit activities can be traced to Hong Kong banks.
Dispute Resolution
I handle complex commercial disputes for clients including JV disputes, fraud, negligence and misrepresentation. I have substantial experience in dealing with asset tracing, obtaining Norwich Pharmacal orders, Prohibition orders and defending injunction applications. I have also been involved in ground-breaking cases relating to the enforcement of arbitration awards in Hong Kong and the abolition of the fraud exception rule for summary judgment applications.
