I am a Senior Associate in the Tax team at Lewis Silkin.

I advise clients from all sectors on a wide range of direct and indirect UK tax issues with a particular interest in corporate transactions, real estate and employment tax and trade and customs.

I place a strong emphasis on providing clear and concise advice to clients while also noting their specific commercial concerns.

Experience

Corporate

  • Advising on and negotiating documents on UK focussed and cross-border M&A transactions from both a buyside and a sellside perspective
  • Negotiating the tax aspects of corporate finance documents
  • Advising on the UK tax aspects of corporate reorganisations (including capital reduction demergers)

Real estate

  • Advising clients on VAT and SDLT in the context of real estate sales and acquisitions, sale and leasebacks, leases, agreements for lease and licenses to alter
  • Helping clients to navigate the Construction Industry Scheme rules
  • Advising clients on TOGCs

Employment tax

  • Advising clients on UK and cross-border employment questions
  • Assisting with the drafting of settlement agreements
  • Advising on the IR35 and the off-payroll working rules

GB trade & customs

  • Advising on the origin, classification and valuation of goods
  • Assisting clients with compliance questions on the GB requirements to be met in respect of the flow of goods into and out of the UK
  • Helping clients to submit duty repayment applications to HMRC and also with HMRC enquiries and decisions
