I have a broad and varied real estate practice, acting for corporates, sovereign wealth funds, private equity investors and financial institutions, particularly in the real estate, retail, hotel, sport and leisure sectors.

I deal with a wide range of commercial property related matters, advising on freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, complex agreements for lease, landlord and tenant and property management work. I also have a wealth of experience advising clients on the real estate aspects of corporate and finance transactions, having spent most of my career to date at a magic circle law firm.

I am commercial in my approach and my primary focus is to achieve my clients’ business aims as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Real estate

I act for a wide variety of corporate occupiers on all aspects of the acquisition and disposal of properties. The majority of my experience has been obtained through advising a highly successful manufacturer and supplier of fitted kitchens on its extensive property portfolio, including advising on agreements for lease and leases in respect of major distribution centres, factories, warehouses, depots, head office and office space, on lease surrenders and dilapidations claims, and all associated management matters.

Corporate

Throughout my career, I have been involved in a number of UK and cross border transactions, advising on the real estate aspects of corporate acquisitions and disposals (on both a share and an asset basis).

I have also advised numerous corporates and financial institutions on the real estate aspects of financing transactions, including preparation and review of Certificates of Title (in CLLS 7th Edition) and the drafting and negotiation of the real estate aspects of loan documentation.

Sports business

Prior to joining Lewis Silkin, I was fortunate enough to be seconded to London 2012, where I spent an invaluable year advising in respect of the real estate and development matters relating to a number of the competition and training venues (including the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Millennium Stadium and ExCel London) and negotiating venue use agreements, development agreements, agreements for lease and leases on behalf of LOCOG. This experience gave me a real insight into the organisation and logistics required to ensure the smooth operation of a major global event and ignited my passion to work in the sports sector.

I am now a member of the Sports Business Group at Lewis Silkin and advise on real estate and development matters for clients involved in the sector.

Retail, Hospitality & Leisure

The majority of my experience in the retail sector has been advising a major UK manufacturer and supplier of fitted kitchens on its extensive property portfolio. I also act for a luxury brand in connection with its UK retail outlets. In addition to commercial property and landlord and tenant matters, I have recently advised on various concession agreements with major department stores. I also have experience in advising a global investor on its joint venture with a design outlet operator, specifically in relation to management, development and pursuit agreements.

Previously, I acted for a Middle Eastern investor on the redevelopment of a five star central London hotel and have advised various private equity investors on the disposal of UK hotel assets. I have also advised both banks and corporates on numerous refinancing transactions relating to hotel portfolios.
