I have worked as an employment lawyer for over a decade, advising organisations and individuals on a variety of employment law matters, both contentious and non-contentious, including contracts of employment, variation and withdrawal of contractual benefits, management of disciplinary and grievance procedures, redundancy and restructuring, dispute resolution, data protection and the defence of proceedings at the Industrial and Fair Employment Tribunals.

In my current role as a Senior Practice Development Lawyer, I am part of a team of specialist lawyers who help keep our clients and colleagues on top of developments in employment law and who provide tools and training to ensure that our colleagues excel in their roles. I am focussed on using my previous experience as a Senior Associate at Lewis Silkin to help my colleagues deliver a first-class service to our clients.

  • Representing a large-scale manufacturing business in the defence of unfair dismissal and age discrimination claims at the Industrial Tribunal, to include drafting pleadings, attending Case Management Preliminary Hearings, dealing with interlocutory matters and settling witness statements in preparation for hearing
  • Advising a medical services provider on the employment rights of a female employee returning from maternity leave in the midst of a potential redundancy situation due to site and equipment relocation
  • Advising a non-departmental public body on the engagement of agency workers in accordance with the NICS CPD framework and otherwise, the applicability of additional terms negotiated by the Trade Union on behalf of agency workers engaged outside the CPD framework, and the review and re-drafting of related internal policies and procedures
  • Advising a global manufacturing company on its response to a DSAR from an employee threatening age and race discrimination claims, and the applicability of various exemptions to the obligations for disclosure
  • Representing a local council in the defence of a complex unfair dismissal and disability discrimination claim brought in the Industrial Tribunal by a former employee dismissed following protracted grievance and absence management processes, involving allegations of wrongdoing by members of management, obtaining Consultant Psychiatrist expert opinion, conducting a lengthy exercise examining the absences of comparators identified by the Claimant and identifying differentiating circumstances in defence of the client's case, settling witness statements and negotiating settlement terms
