18 January 2022
Lewis Silkin’s Stephen O’Flaherty has been named in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 for 2022, celebrating the most daring, innovative, and creative lawyers in the UK for the past year. Stephen is one of two associates to be named in this year’s list.
The Hot 100 is an annual listing that recognises a diverse range of legal professionals who have shone in their field of work, all demonstrating both excellence and relevance within the legal industry and ‘doing amazing work’.
In particular, Stephen has been recognised for his hard work and success in further building the sports immigration practice, advising a myriad of elite sports clubs and athletes. With a particular focus on football clubs, Stephen is noted for managing the immigration aspects of transfers for 15 clubs from the top three tiers of English professional football, including 11 from the Premier League, and a further four from the top tier of the Women’s Super League in the past year. Stephen also advised Transfer Edge on their GBE scoring technology to help streamline international player recruitment for football clubs, providing an important solution for clubs post-Brexit.
The publication highlights Stephen’s ‘discretion and hard work [having] been keys to his success’ and notes that he will make his mark with club executives with his ‘confidence and clarity of counsel’.
Stephen’s listing follows that of Joint Managing Partner Richard Miskella in 2020 and Partner Tarun Tawakley who was listed in 2019 whilst in house at Deliveroo.
Richard Miskella, Joint Managing Partner of Lewis Silkin commented “We are absolutely delighted Stephen has been listed in this year’s Lawyer Hot 100. Stephen has been an integral part of our market leading immigration and sports practices and this recognition is testament to his hard work and client skills. Stephen brings this same ethos and dedication to his role leading and growing our immigration practice in Belfast.”
