As a key part of Lewis Silkin’s complete IP360 offering, its patent prosecution team has achieved notable recognition in the 2021 IAM Patent 1000 rankings.
Lewis Silkin launched its patent prosecution practice in 2019 with the integration of former patent attorney outfit Ablett & Stebbing, and is now recognised as a firm that “punches well above its weight” with an “experienced, technically capable team undertaking everything from basic filings to complex freedom-to-operate and IP strategy”.
Key members of the team include:
Tom Gaunt: a portfolio manager and engineering and software expert, Tom is noted as being “quick to understand new concepts and communicates easily with inventors”. “He is one of the best-networked patent attorneys in the game.”
Graham Ablett: a founder of Ablett & Stebbing and a physicist by background, Graham’s “aptitude extends from mechanics to electronics, telecommunications and software.”
Paul Williams: a chemist by training and “similarly versatile: he ably dispatches both mechanics and life sciences instructions”
Noting the importance of the team, Joint Managing Partner for Lewis Silkin, Giles Crown, commented “It is great to see our patent prosecution team receiving this well-deserved recognition. They are a key part of our wider IP360 offering - our unparalleled IP service whereby we bring together our own in-house trade mark and patent attorneys alongside our specialist contentious and commercial IP lawyers all under one roof. In today’s world, the importance, complexity and diversity of intellectual property means having a co-ordinated global IP strategy with a consistent approach across the registration, management, commercialisation, defence and enforcement of all your IP assets, has never been more critical.”
