27 November 2023
Lewis Silkin has today announced the appointment of Fraser Mitchell as a partner in the firm’s Dispute Resolution group.
Joining Lewis Silkin from US headquartered firm Armstrong Teasdale, Fraser brings experience in advising on matters with links to international financial centres, having previously practiced in the British Virgin Islands and appearing as both sole counsel and as junior up to the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. Fraser is described as “a rising star” in the Legal 500, where he has been listed in both the U.K and the Caribbean guides.
With particular experience in complex cross-border and multijurisdictional disputes, Fraser has worked with clients including individuals, trusts, companies, and funds as both claimants and defendants.
He is often instructed in cases where fraud, bribery, conspiracy or breach of fiduciary duty are alleged and regularly acts in insolvency litigation and shareholders’ disputes, and has extensive experience in obtaining and resisting interim applications, often at short notice.
Much of his work is international in nature, having represented clients including US and Swiss residents, Premier League footballers, government officials in the Middle East and Chinese property companies.
Fraser Mitchell, Partner at Lewis Silkin, commented:
Lewis Silkin has undergone impressive growth in recent years, both in the UK and internationally, and has an outstanding reputation, which provides an exciting opportunity to continue developing my cross-border practice. In all my conversations with my new colleagues so far, the firm’s mission and values have been evident and compelling, and it is a real pleasure to be joining the team.
Mark Lim, partner and Head of Dispute Resolution at Lewis Silkin, commented:
“As we continue to grow and enhance our contentious offering domestically and internationally, Fraser brings expertise and skill in an area of real strategic importance to us and also deepens the firm’s dispute resolution bench strength in our key sectors and markets. We are very pleased to welcome him to Lewis Silkin.”
