City law firm Lewis Silkin LLP has once again been recognised as one of Britain’s best employers by the Sunday Times’ esteemed 100 Best Companies to Work For survey. Marking the fourth successive year it has been included, the firm jumped twenty-four places from its 2011 position to find itself once again inside the Top 20 and is now the most highly ranked law firm in the entire list. The firm is one of only six law firms to feature in the list.
The firm has also been recognised as an ‘extraordinary’ employer and was this year awarded a third star by Best Companies Ltd - three stars being the highest accreditation rating in the Best Companies guide. The Michelin star-style rating system acknowledges organisations that show high levels of employee engagement, fulfilment and staff motivation. A total of over 246,000 employees from 828 companies were surveyed this year, alongside a thorough evaluation of each organisation’s key statistics, processes and policies.
Responses were highly positive across the eight key areas surveyed, including Wellbeing, Fair Deal and Personal Growth, thus firmly cementing the firm’s position at nineteen in the overall table. Particular highlights include:
- 73% of staff recognise that profit and budget concerns are not the only criteria driving the organisation, which was placed in the top five companies for this category
- The majority of employees (79%) would not leave the firm tomorrow if they were offered another job
- The firm came in eighth place overall in the Fair Deal section of the survey, with employees citing particular contentment with the pay and benefits they receive
Commenting on the ranking and accreditation, Lewis Silkin managing partner, Ian Jeffery said:
"We are delighted to be recognised once again as one of the Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work For. The fact that our people feel so positively about the firm reflects the commitment shown by a great many people over the years to our culture and values. There is a strong belief within the firm that time spent at work should be enjoyable and that in working with great clients and great colleagues we can make that a reality.”
