Lewis Silkin expands IP team with mechanics patent specialist

Lewis Silkin LLP announces the appointment of Jonathan Higgs as a Legal Director in its Intellectual Property (IP) team.
Jonathan joins the firm from UDL Intellectual Property (now part of Murgitroyd), and brings more than 25 years of experience in the international IP arena. A European and UK chartered patent attorney, Jonathan specialises in the mechanical field and has expertise and experience across a number of technological areas including beverage dispense and packaging technology, automotive and aerospace engineering, building materials and medical devices. He has also developed a particular interest in green technology and renewable energy production.
Jonathan represents a wide range of clients from the UK and around the world in patent prosecution and hearings before the European Patent Office, and has particular experience advising on effective ways of protecting and enforcing designs under UK and European registration systems.
He entered IP law in 1996 following completion of a degree in product development in his native New Zealand, and first qualified as a NZ/AU patent trade mark attorney in 2000.
