City law firm Lewis Silkin LLP has today announced the appointment of Colin Leckey as a partner in the firm’s renowned Employment, Reward and Immigration (ERI) team. Colin joins the firm from Baker & McKenzie, where he was a senior associate in the Employment Department.

Colin’s appointment further bolsters the ERI team’s expertise in, and offering to, the financial services sector. The addition of his extensive experience with complex pan-European and global employment issues, having coordinated a variety of cross-border employment matters, reflects the continued strengthening of the firm’s offer for global employers.

Having advised clients in a wide range of industry sectors, from retail to technology to professional services, Colin’s experience is particularly significant in the financial services sector. He has acted for major investment banks on many large scale Employment Tribunal cases.  In the field of industrial relations, Colin has acted on a number of high profile strike injunctions.  He also regularly advises on the employment aspects of outsourcing and M&A transactions.

Colin advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters, with a particular interest in individual and collective redundancies, equal pay and sex discrimination, strikes and industrial action, family friendly rights and TUPE.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Burd and James Davies, joint heads of ERI at Lewis Silkin LLP, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Colin to the team, where his financial services and multi-jurisdictional experience provides a complementary addition to our skills and further supports our commitment to developing our international offering. His appointment follows the recent hire of partner Christopher Hitchens at the start of the year into the ERI team, as we continue to grow our already market-leading employment practice both organically and through strategic lateral hires.”

Colin added:

“I am very much looking forward to joining Lewis Silkin’s renowned Employment, Reward and Immigration team. The practice has an unrivalled reputation in advising employers which, combined with its breadth of expertise and an enviable roster of clients, was a significant factor in my decision to join the firm. It is an exciting time to be part of this fast-growing team, and I look forward to contributing to its further expansion.”
