Lewis Silkin advises 59 Productions on major new creative venture
19 December 2022
Lewis Silkin has advised production design studio 59 Productions on a corporate joint venture for a major new exhibition space in Kings Cross, London.
The partnership, between 59 Productions, the London Theatre Company and others, will see the four-storey venue open next year in Lewis Cubitt Square, next to the shopping and dining district in Coal Drops Yard.
The new space – dubbed “Lightroom” – will feature the latest in digital projection and audio technology and has been designed by Haworth Tompkins architects, winners of the Stirling Prize for architecture. It will sit on the ground floor of the landmark “P2” Building, which also houses some of Facebook’s offices. The venue’s first show, which is due to open on 25 January 2023, will be English artist David Hockney’s “Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away)”.
59 Productions is an award-winning design studio and production company based in London and New York. The company produces work in a range of disciplines from architectural projection mapping to exhibition design, stage design and artistic installation.
The transaction was led by Barnaby Stokes, Managing Associate, Corporate; and Jeremy Summers, Consultant. Barnaby Stokes handled the investment transaction and Jeremy Summers dealt with the commercial and IP issues. Barnaby Stokes said: “Lewis Silkin has wide-ranging experience of handling corporate transactions in the creative industries and it was a privilege to work on this deal. The 59 team have a reputation for exciting, innovative work and Lightroom promises to be an iconic new performance space in the heart of London which we look forward to visiting ourselves.”
