In this “round-up of 2019” session, we will be taking you through the main Hong Kong employment law changes and cases of the year and the proposed legislative changes which employers should be aware of in 2020. From the extension of maternity leave from 10 to 14 weeks which will likely happen later this year, the proposed revisions to anti-discrimination laws, and the review by the Privacy Commissioner of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance to address the inadequacies that were exposed in recent data breaches, we will be exploring all of these key developments in Hong Kong and what they mean for employers on a practical level. We will also look at what employment law cases caught our attention last year and why.

Our focus will be on Hong Kong but we will also touch upon significant developments in other APAC jurisdictions, such as China, and Singapore. In addition to providing a round-up of the key cases and other developments of 2019, we will be looking at what is on the horizon for 2020.
