Commercial Data
The commercial data and privacy team provides advice on all aspects of the commercial exploitation and use of personal data and it also advises on contentious privacy matters, including claims arising from data breaches, privacy non-compliance and defamation.
We focus on seven key sectors: Engineering, Advertising & Marketing, Technology, Professional Services, Retail, Leisure & Hospitality, Sports and Media & Entertainment.
A key aspect of our commercial data and privacy offering is the contextualised advice we provide to our clients: our multidisciplinary practitioners provide privacy advice in the context of other areas of applicable law such as intellectual property law, consumer regulation and advertising and marketing regulation.
Members of the team have also developed a particular specialism in advising clients on the privacy compliance aspects of the use of personal data for marketing purposes, particularly where marketing activity is combined with social media, user monitoring, user profiling and/or geo-location data.
