Pro Bono

We’re committed to providing time and resource to support our pro bono clients, recognising the important role our lawyers play in giving organisations and individuals access to essential legal support and advice.

This year we are hosting a series of pro bono webinars from the Lewis Silkin Pro Bono Skills Academy. The sessions are aimed at charities and not-for-profits.

TrustLaw supports NGOs and social enterprises that address a wealth of different issues, including women's rights, human trafficking and slavery, refugees and forced migration, LGBT rights, freedom of expression, environmental and land rights. Volunteers from Lewis Silkin have responded to TrustLaw’s requests on behalf of NGOs and social enterprises for free legal support on a variety of matters.

Employment advice clinic - City Law School / Mary Ward Legal Advice Centre

Lewis Silkin supports a monthly pro bono clinic in term time for low income local residents. Volunteers from our employment team provide free legal advice. The Lewis Silkin volunteers pair up with a City Law School student and give face to face advice ranging from unfair dismissal, redundancy, sickness absence, disciplinaries, holiday pay and discrimination.

Rights of Women Advice Line

We provide free employment legal advice to women in England and Wales experiencing sexual harassment at work including identifying sexual harassment, how to bring a complaint against their employer, and advice on the Employment Tribunal procedure, settlement agreements and NDAs.


We are part of Protect’s legal support network and help with pro bono advice for the charity which offers free whistleblowing advice to individuals on how best to raise a concern and on what protection they have.

The Chancery Lane Project

The Chancery Lane Project is a collaborative, not-for-profit effort by lawyers to develop new contracts and model laws to help fight climate change. It aims to assist lawyers to find climate solutions within their own work, in a politically and professionally neutral manner and enable them to assist their clients to adapt to and prepare for climate related systems transitions. We have joined as a member firm of The Chancery Lane Project and representatives from Lewis Silkin have taken part in The Chancery Lane Project’s hackathon.

Drink Without Waste

Drink Without Waste is a Hong Kong based initiative aimed at reducing waste from beverage consumption, developing, facilitating and implementing solutions to reduce and manage single use beverage packing waste. Our Hong Kong team provide pro bono advice in relation to branding, registration of their trademarks and other IP matters.
