Pro Bono

Lewis Silkin actively supports and facilitates involvement in pro bono initiatives.

Some of the pro bono initiatives we have been involved in over the last 12 months are below.

Employment advice clinic - City Law School / Mary Ward Legal Advice Centre

Lewis Silkin supports a monthly pro bono clinic in term time for low income local residents. Volunteers from our employment team provide free legal advice. The Lewis Silkin volunteers pair up with a City Law School student and give face to face advice ranging from unfair dismissal, redundancy, sickness absence, disciplinaries, holiday pay and discrimination.

Working Families

Our employment team supports Working Families, an online platform which helps working parents, carers and their employers balance their responsibilities at home and in the workplace. Working Families helps these individuals by providing free legal advice on their rights at work. You can read more about Working Families here.

Oxford Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) employment law clinic

Volunteers from the Oxford office regularly take part in employment advice sessions at the CAB clinic in Oxford. These are 30 minute long sessions where clients are looking for general guidance regarding their legal rights, any merits that a potential claim may have and the next steps that they should take.

Cardiff Employment Law Clinic

A number of people from the team in Cardiff attend the Employment Law Clinic as advisors or administrators, where we support clients with legal advice on employment matters, such as dismissals, long term sickness absence, disciplinary, or any other issues they may have with their employer.

Cardiff Employment Tribunal Litigant in Person Support Scheme

A number of people from the team in Cardiff volunteer with the Cardiff Employment Tribunal Litigant in Person Support Scheme, either by assisting litigants to delineate and present their claims at Cardiff Employment Tribunal, or by sitting on the steering committee.
