I joined Lewis Silkin as a trainee and qualified into the Employment, Immigration and Reward division.

Prior to joining Lewis Silkin I studied History at Durham University. I am now settled in South East London where I spend most of my time planning excursions away from South East London.

I advise employers on the whole range of general employment issues: from hiring to firing and everything in-between. This includes drafting and reviewing policies, helping clients with family-friendly issues such as maternity, paternity and shared parental leave, advising on performance issues and terminations, as well as assisting clients with restructurings and redundancies. I have a particular interest in data privacy law – a significant part of my practice consists of advising employers on how best to comply with data privacy legislation. I am also CIPP/E qualified.

My client base is broad, and includes various organisations across the professional and financial services sectors.

My work is international and, as Lewis Silkin is part of the global Ius Laboris alliance of HR lawyers, often involves managing international projects.

Data & Privacy

My work for the data & privacy legal practice group involves:

  • conducting privacy impact assessments to mitigate the risk to clients of non-compliance with data privacy legislation
  • advising multi-national companies on extra-EEA transfers, privacy shield, and the new GDPR
  • advising on, and coordinating responses to, data subject access requests from employees
  • advising companies on employee monitoring and location tracking

Professional Services

I work with clients in the professional services sector, assisting with issues such as:

  • performance issues and subsequent termination of employment
  • drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants
  • advising on the law and practice of international secondments
  • restructuring and redundancies
