I have been advising the social housing sector for more than 25 years. Mainly working on new social housing developments, but I have also advised housing associations and registered providers on the terms and conditions of tenancies, shared ownership leases, fixed and variable service charges, management agreements, the transfer of tenanted stock, right to buy and right to acquire, nominations agreements, and section 106 agreements.
I advise on the grant funding requirements of the Homes and Communities Agency, regulatory issues including consents to disposals under section 172 and as a number of my clients are charities vires issues. I deal with supported housing as well as general needs and I have negotiated numerous supporting people contracts as well as block and spot contracts with commissioning local authorities.
Recent work includes the acquisition of a portfolio of tenanted social housing stock, a commission by major legal publisher Lexis Nexis Butterworths to write legal precedents and commentary for its volume on social housing
