I advise a wide variety of clients from across a number of sectors, both public and private, on real estate issues, with a particular focus on development and development finance matters.

I have particular experience in mixed use developments, hotel schemes and regeneration projects, and have acted for a range of Local Authorities, Development Corporations and Housing Associations, as well as Developers and Funds I deal with the property aspects of development and planning projects, and this involves the negotiation of development agreements and any related leases, option and overage agreements, and conducting the title review (having particular regard to those issues which might impact on the development proposals such as restrictive covenants and adverse rights). I deal also with rent sharing leases in joint venture projects, and agreements for lease in favour of key tenants

On the financing side, I handle banking requirements associated with funding a development, such as the negotiation of facility agreements and legal charges. I also assist corporate colleagues on the property aspects of share sales.

Real Estate

Recent experience includes advising a transport/infrastructure client on The Silvertown Quays mixed use redevelopment in East London, and advising a Housing Association on the affordable housing element of a mixed use scheme, including negotiation of the development agreement and all ancillary documents.

I have also recently acted on a number of hotel projects: negotiating the development documentation for an Aparthotel scheme in Central London, acting on behalf of a major fund, and dealing with the disposal of a boutique hotel, again in Central London. I have also recently dealt with the acquisition of a former bank building for conversion into a boutique hotel, the transaction being conditional on obtaining planning and listed building consents.

I am currently acting for a housebuilder on the negotiation of an option agreement for the acquisition of a potential site for residential development: the agreement is conditional on planning and contains extensive overage provisions.
