My work involves a broad range of UK immigration issues. I assist employers and individuals on all aspects of Points Based System applications, such as skilled workers who require sponsorship or temporary workers coming over for training.
I also provide advice to companies on all issues relating to sponsor licences, including initial applications to be added to the Register of Sponsors, meeting and maintaining compliance obligations, and dealing suspension or revocation action.
Another part of my work involves individuals making applications under other parts of the Immigration Rules, such as family members of British citizens, and applications under the European regulations, such as EEA nationals (and their non-EEA family members) applying for Permanent Residence or other registration documentation.
Recently, I successfully argued to reverse a sponsor licence suspension for a company operating in the food and beverage industry.
The immigration work I advise on is varied and involves most issues arising under the Immigration Rules. I also advise European citizens and their family members on their rights arising under European law. Specifically, the areas I advise on include:
- setting up companies on the Register of Sponsors so that they can employ non-EEA nationals
- advising on the Points Based System, including the Resident Labour Market Test, certificates of sponsorship, and other compliance obligations
- preparing applications for Permanent Residence and Indefinite Leave to Remain for both EEA and non-EEA nationals
- providing tailored training sessions to companies - often this will focus on a particular area of law such as sponsor compliance, right to work checks, or the Sponsor Management System
Media & Entertainment
I am part of the Media and Entertainment sector group and a number of clients I advise operate within the Media and Entertainment industry. Specific issues include urgency of sourcing talent, and employers ensuring continued compliance with their sponsorship obligations.
I also have a particular experience with automotive clients and advise on various specific application and sponsor compliance issues. Particular immigration issues include advising on the Shortage Occupation List and helping employers increase their workforce. Manufacture of cars and other commercial vehicles has increased significantly in recent years and companies must hire the best and most highly skilled individuals for various engineering roles to ensure they drive growth, avoid stagnation and remain competitive in the automotive industry.
