I advise on contentious matters, from high court litigation to regulatory investigations. My expertise is in intellectual property and I recently completed the Oxford Intellectual Property Diploma with a distinction.
I advise on all aspects of intellectual property including designs, patents, trade marks, copyright, database rights and breach of confidence. In addition to IP I advise on data protection and privacy matters, consumer protection issues, reputational issues such as defamation and malicious falsehood and advertising and clearance issues. I have a broad range of experience from complex IP disputes and breach of confidence to drafting software and other tech agreements. Though I am predominantly a dispute resolution lawyer, I have experience in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements. I use this experience to benefit clients with pragmatic and commercial solutions for dispute resolution. Particular sector experience includes retail, media and entertainment and technology.
Prior to Lewis Silkin, I worked as a music publisher specialising in the licensing of music for computer games. When I'm not at work I can most commonly be found training dogs or dancing round my kitchen. I am currently on a challenge to sample all of the Time Out top 100 cheap eats in London.
Brands & IP
I advise clients on all aspects of brand protection including both registered and unregistered rights, anti-counterfeiting, private prosecutions, reputational issues and commercial exploitation. I assist clients on issues ranging from ownership of rights to enforcement and infringement of rights. I have particular experience with online infringement issues and have acted on a number of high profile breach of confidence and trade mark disputes. I act for both claimants and defendants from small companies to large multi-international companies. I have acted on contentious matters before the national and European Courts and obtained injunctions on privacy and defamation matters for individuals and companies.
Data & Privacy
I have advised on a variety of data and privacy issues in contentious and non-contentious matters. In particular, I have experience advising the media and retail sectors. My experience includes advising on discrete issues surrounding the use and disclosure of data to drafting privacy policies. I have recently assisted with a worldwide data audit project which has involved the investigation and analysis of organisational data use through to the implementation of solutions to ensure compliance with data and privacy regulations on a global scale.
