I am an experienced litigator in our Disputes Resolution department. I spent the first six years of my career as a criminal barrister, moving in-house to a national newspaper group, before re-qualifying as a solicitor and entering private practice in 2006.

I advise clients across a broad spectrum of legal services especially where the civil and criminal law overlap. I have particular expertise in relation to intellectual property, media & entertainment, consumer, crime, competition, and health & safety matters.

Dispute Resolution

My work covers representation of both claimants and defendants, and may involve regulatory or quasi-regulatory bodies such as the Competition and Markets Authority, the Health and Safety Executive, the Advertising Standards Authority, National Trading Standards, and Collecting Societies.

Typical work ranges across the following: copyright, design right, and trade mark; privacy, libel, harassment, data protection, and breach of confidence; consumer litigation; contract disputes; cartel and related competition issues; fraud; private prosecutions; advising and defending in health & safety prosecutions.

Recent cases include:
  • a company charged with cartels offence brought by the CMA
  • breach of contract, confidential information, and abuse of a domination position in the electric vehicle charging market
  • harassment claim for computer hacking and mail interception of an individual’s private and confidential communications
  • a construction company charged with a Health & Safety offence under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
  • libel claim brought on behalf of two Partners at an accountancy firm over a defamatory press release
  • successful complaint to IPSO brought against a national newspaper for a substantial inaccuracy on facts around a story which was published around the world
  • defence of a retailer on a National Trading Standards investigation on misleading advertising

Brands & Intellectual Property

I advise on all aspects of brand work and IP. I represent creators, makers and innovators across industries, enforcing or protecting rights which may include copyright; trade mark; design right; confidential information or trade secrets; and anti-counterfeit measures.

I am particularly well-known in the creative, media, retail and fashion industries but also represent financial institutions, manufacturers and trade bodies.

Retail, Hospitality & Leisure

My work covers representation of both claimants and defendants, and may involve regulatory or quasi-regulatory bodies such as the Competition and Markets Authority, the Health and Safety Executive, the Advertising Standards Authority, National Trading Standards, and Collecting Societies.

Typical work ranges across the following: copyright, design rights, and trade marks; privacy, libel, harassment, data protection, and breach of confidence; consumer litigation; contract disputes; cartel and related competition issues; fraud; private prosecutions; advising and defending in health & safety prosecutions.
