Lewis Silkin invites you to our 2018/19 series of roundtable discussions exclusively for General Counsel, COLPs and Risk and Compliance officers in Professional Services firms.

In recent years there has been a rise in the number of internal investigations being undertaken by companies and firms, as businesses increasingly seek to use investigations to help manage risk and deal with regulatory enquiries. At the same time the scope and applicability of privilege has come under increased judicial scrutiny and, in certain cases, claims to privilege have been challenged by enforcement and regulatory agencies. This has culminated in a number of high-profile court challenges which have redefined the privilege landscape.

At this session we will discuss the different types of legal professional privilege, the rules which apply to them and the recent changes in the law of privilege. We will also discuss privilege in the particular context of internal investigations; addressing the issues that need to be considered at the outset and the extent to which privilege can be claimed over documents that are generated during an internal investigation.
